BCTR celebrates graduating student contributions to the Center

Spring 2021 BCTR Graduation Celebration

Spring 2021 BCTR Graduation Celebration

Graduation is a time of celebration and one of those special moments in time to recognize students for their vast achievements in their journey as young scholars. This past month on May 21st, the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research held a celebratory event to honor graduating seniors who had been engaged in various research and leadership roles at the Center. Project 2 Gen, ACT for Youth, PRYDE, and other members of the BCTR community came together to recognize the many contributions from the senior students that were vital to the advancement of the work in these programs.

Within PRYDE, 6 students from the graduating cohort were congratulated for their successful completion from the Scholars Program. Throughout the past two years, they spearheaded several translational research projects, including the development of a comprehensive social science curriculum that aims to teach youth in 4-H fundamental research skills while also creating a youth self-expression program toolkit as a resource for practitioners. In addition to actively collaborating with community partners to address needs of NYS youth, scholars worked alongside Cornell faculty in laboratories to conduct cutting-edge research on youth development.

At the event, each scholar was introduced with a few statements regarding their unique contributions to the program. Scholars then reflected on the impact of their experiences and shared their insights from training as the next generation of translational research leaders. By joining together in celebration with other projects in the BCTR, the event reaffirmed the value of engaging student researchers and the extraordinary perspectives they bring in applying science to practice.

A sincere congratulations and best wishes for our PRYDE Scholar graduates!
